At this point tonight Tracy and I are still playing the waiting game. It is quite tasking at times to rethink all your preparations to realize that you have indeed prepared yourself... to be what is probably unprepared when the moment arrives. With no idea what to expect, continuous excitement with the edge of nervousness we wait—all while knowing it is not up to us when our little guy will enter this world, but that is why we let our faith handle that. It will be funny to look back at this post after the moment has passed... but as for right now I am naive.

After hitting the Baseball Hall of fame in Cooperstown NY which by the way is a great secluded town, we made it to Boston Saturday nite. We stayed out of town and took the "T" into downtown. Boston is a great city, very walkable and the people are very nice. We saw a lot of history from the "Red line", did a little shopping, a little drinking (well I did) and ate way too much, especially on the North End (Itallin community)... great pasta, great cannolis.

We wake up a little sore from all the walking but ready to head into Maine... we highy recommend Boston if you are out this way.

After a marathon on the road, and a brief stop In Niagra falls we made it to stop one on our vacation. Today was more about "getting there" rather than seeing the sites. Tomorrow we head thru NY and into VT, so we look forward to that. We would have some pictures to share but the usb cord for the camera is in the car... and well you'll just have to wait. So far it has been a blast, its jsut great being together and enjoying each other with no deadlines, schedules, or personal/ home projects calling us.

I can also tell Tracy is starting to really relax... After a discussion about metric vs US (english) (driving through canada spurred this) she told me that she is pretty certain that Celcius measurment of temperature was invented after ice...

That Buffalo should be pronounced Baafalo...

and that your stomach feels really full when there is a baby in it... which is something I would never have thought.

Off to dream about tomorrow... I will keep you updated when we have wireless access.

Those of you who have followed my blog since the beggining know that I split it into a professional and personal blog early this summer... Why? So I can seperate thel stories on this blog and record my life. The other blog is essentially a cheap way of doing an updateable news site.

Regardless here goes! I have never had a client like I currently do. They do everything above and beyond what my clients generally do. Genereally I have to poke and prod people to give me content or information needed to do my job... not this client. They kicked back info in a matter of days like they had it ready before we ever met!

I also generally have to work around the usual, well I really like the design but could we add a big star right in the middle, or something of that nature to completely F' up the design. Not this one! I worked up 2 designs. Sent over the comps this morning at 8:15am and by 8:23am they had made there choice with no changes...

I cannot believe it... jaw dropping. I am considering asking them to teach a class.

The Van Solkema household is in full "Yule tide" swing! No I didn't lock myself in the attic and watch home videos all day, but we did venture out to the Christmas tree farm to cut down the Van Solkema Family christmas tree. After miles or walking* and hours of searching* there it was The Family Christmas tree. So we brought it home decorated it, and now I sit here looking at the lights, ornaments, and colors... I love christmas!

We are having a good time. Good amount of deer, and so far one bagged by my cousin John. Had an incredible snowstorm last night. Lightning and big wet flakes accumulating around 8". It stuck to everything, including all the trees, making alot of the too heavy to stand and covering the road in and out of our cabin in the deep woods. (pictures coming later)

Tonight, maybe a totty or two, and some time in the sauna... in b'tween card games.

The "Caramel incident"

It has come to be known as the "Caramel incident." In early November, on the first Saturday of the month 2005, my craving for the sweets finally got the best of me. As I quietly enjoyed a delicious Sugar Daddy Caramel Lollipop, I noticed something. Something peculiar, it felt as it my tooth had given way to a giant crater. As I fished around my mouth the crater felt as if it were the size of the grand canyon. Yup I had jarred loose a filling and —opened a once painful cavity to the elements!

So today,today the 7th of November 2005 a major dental surgery will take place to replace this massive missing metal from my mouth. I am not looking forward to the painful event. And I heard today that the price of the precious metal to fill cavities has spiked due to my mishap...

UPDATE! - I had it filled this afternoon and the dentist didn't even use the drill! It was absoluetly awesome, I asked for the "gas" and to be numbed...yeah I am a woose. Then all of a sudden (I wwas enjoying the gas) it was over, no numbing, no drilling, painless, and fast...my kind of dentistry.

Been so busy I forgot to post!

Well here goes, The pumpkin carving contest went great, Ryan, Ed, and I had a "goulish" time scaring folks in the haunted forest we created for my dads hay ride. Good fun.

Again, have I commented on how awesome the fall colors are this year. Extraordinary. I love fall, and it is reving me up to get the gun out and get ready for hunting season. Though I have never claimed to be a good hunter I am always excited about getting back into the deep north woods. The possibility is there that I may try my hand at a little pheasant hunting also! I'll keep you updated.

I am toying with the idea of joining a gym close to my house. Really great place—but expensive as all get out. But I also need it, I seem to find every excuse in the book to not work out, this may help. It would also be nice to have a place to go each day, considering there are days when I do not leave the house.

Work is going well. Busy again (yay!) and its nice to be strategizing for my own clients. I also love meeting new people and lately I have been doing just that. I also feel a transition in my design style just around the corner... Love it when I get these notions.

and it pisses me off! The flippin tigers fired Alan Trammel today. In my opinion they didn't give him a chance. I mean in his defense the town has a kind of laziness when it comes to football and baseball. Every player who comes to Detroit sucks ass, but as soon as they are traded, they go bigtime, Juan Gonzalez, Pudge Rodriguiz, to name a few. I say we look into the first ever combined franchise trades... ... maybe Arizona or Cleveland would be interested, or possibly Tampa Bay, I'd be game for that... at least thier footbal team is undefeated this year.

I have a craftsman lawnmower. The thing has worked great. Never any problems. Except the fact that everytime I go to buy parts for it, I have to go to Sears. Air filters, bagging unites everything must come from Sears. Then when I do go to Sears it cost me an arm and a leg for parts. Talk about a load of crap. Shot of my father inlaw Terry, setting the tile in our kitchen. He did a tremendous job. I was allowed to help a little—I basically handed him tile, and any tools he needed.

But I am proud to say I did finish out the trim today. Completing the entire project. Next in line, Carpet.
